JOB SUMMARY:
The Veteran Services Office Assistant provides front-office administrative support to the County Veterans Service Office. This role supports scheduling, phone coverage, document handling, records management, and community outreach coordination. - Answer phones, route calls, take accurate messages, and assist walk-ins with a respectful, service-oriented approach
- Schedule appointments, confirmations, reminders, and follow-ups; maintain an orderly calendar
- Prepare, organize, scan, copy, and upload documents; maintain accurate digital and paper files
- Track incoming/outgoing paperwork; verify documents are complete and properly labeled
- Maintain confidentiality of client information and records; share information only with authorized parties
- Assist with outgoing submissions (mail/fax/upload), including cover sheets and basic quality checks; maintain copies of items sent
- Support outreach activities as needed (event scheduling, flyers, partner emails/calls, sign-in sheets, and follow-up)
- Maintain office supplies and basic tracking/logs; provide general administrative support as assigned
- Occasional evening/weekend outreach events may be required
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Resident of the State of Colorado
- Veteran of the United States Armed Services
- High school diploma or GED
- 1+ year in an office, administrative, reception, or customer service role (or equivalent)
- Strong phone etiquette, clear writing, and attention to detail
- Proficient with email, calendars, PDFs, scanning/copying, and basic spreadsheets
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Experience in a public-facing office (county/state/nonprofit/medical/legal)
- Familiarity with veteran services, benefits navigation, or community resource coordination
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Experience supporting a high-volume scheduling environment
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License

Work is generally performed in an office environment. At times may require working outdoors in extreme conditions. Position requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment at efficient speed. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit, talk, walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, see, and hear. Hearing and vision correctable to normal ranges; close-up vision and the ability to adjust focus across a distance must be able to reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls, drive, frequently lift up to 20 pounds. The noise level may be very quiet to noisy depending on the situation. Occasional travel may be required.
