JOB SUMMARY:
The Colorado Welcome Center Manager is the primary leader responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Alamosa Colorado Welcome Center. Operating under a Memorandum of Agreement between the Alamosa Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) and the Colorado Tourism Office (CTO), this role ensures smooth coordination between both organizations. The Manager reports directly to the ACVB Executive Director while adhering to CTO guidelines and collaborating closely with the CTO Director of Visitor Services.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (The following are illustrative of essential functions to perform duties and responsibilities of the job.  The position may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional tasks as needed by the Department.   • Oversee daily operations of the Colorado Welcome Center, ensuring coverage 7 days a week alongside staff and volunteers
  • Recruit, train, and retain dedicated volunteers to support center activities
  • Conduct monthly training sessions for volunteers and part-time staff
  • Manage distribution of brochures and marketing collateral, including coordination of monthly bulk mailings
  • Supervise all Welcome Center activities and ensure high-quality visitor experiences
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with volunteers, staff, CTO Director of Visitor Services, and ACVB Executive Director
  • Handle general maintenance and upkeep of the Welcome Center
  • Attend required travel for CTO manager meetings
  • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with partner organizations, local businesses, and community stakeholders
  • Manage part-time staff supporting center operations
  • Develop and nurture partnerships to align with the Welcome Center’s goals, including business engagement, event participation, and community involvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with visitors, staff, volunteers, and community partners
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage daily operations, events, and ongoing projects
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers and part-time staff
  • Ability to maintain a cooperative and professional relationship with multiple stakeholders
  • Basic knowledge of marketing collateral distribution and visitor information services
  • Comfortable with required travel for meetings and professional development
Other Requirements:
  • Flexible availability including weekends and holidays to support a 7-day operational schedule
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and promoting tourism in the Alamosa area
  • Must pass Alamosa County background check and pre-employment drug testing
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in visitor services, tourism management, retail operations, or related customer-facing roles. Experience managing staff and volunteers strongly preferred.

Hearing and vision correctable to normal ranges; close-up vision and the ability to adjust focus across an audience.  Occasionally, the position may stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, carry, twist and push and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight.  The employee is required to communicate both orally and in writing. Employee must be able to reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls, drive, and lift up to 30 pounds. The noise level may be very quiet to noisy depending on the situation.
